A Good Soldier

Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.    2 Timothy 2:4-5

A soldier has to be strong and courageous.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9

A soldier is willing to fight for the cause and willing to lay down their life for it.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7

A soldier has to stay focus in battle and not allow themselves to become distracted.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.  Matthew 16:24

A soldier has discipline and is willing to follow his leader wherever he may go.

And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.  Matthew 8:20

God has chosen you to be in his army.

According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.   Ephesians 1:4-5

We are soldiers,  in the army

We have to fight,  although we  have to cry

We have to hold up the Blood Stained Banner

We have to hold it up until we die.

  1. YES! We know we are being tested when our faith is feeling a little shaky. Hold the banner high and lifted up. Victory is ours because of the blood shed of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  2. I love this, because I for one, need reminded from time to time, we go through battles but He told us to endure because victory is ours! I needed it, I may have read this post much later than it was written but His word is always right on time!
