Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. — Isaiah 55:1-3
Why are we working and spending our monies on things that do not satisfy us? We can shop till we drop or we can eat until we are overly full, but these things will only temporary satisfy us. What will satisfy our thirst cannot be bought with money and what he has for us will fill that empty longing in our souls. Jesus said come onto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
He has what we need and it will be satisfying to our souls. Jesus said I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. (John 6:35) So come and quench your thirst and hunger by sitting at his feet and listening to what God has to say to us. He wants to be your only God and he wants to be your Savior.
