Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you: — 1 Peter 4:12
When trials come in your life, how should you face them? First, we should not feel that this is something new or unusual. If we want to live godly, we must suffer persecution. How is my situation considered persecution? We are in a spiritual war. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual principalities, against powers, against rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places — Ephesians 6:12.
Do you remember the story of Job? He was a good man. He had seven sons and three daughters, and he was wealthy. He was also a praying man. Before his children could have a feast, he called for them to come so that he could pray for them. Well Satan was paying attention too. You see the Devil is like a roaring lion, walking about, seeking who he can devour. He went before God so that he could challenge God about Job’s faith. He told God the only reason he respects you because you have a wall of protection around him and his property. God told him he would remove this wall, but he could not take his life. Everything was taken away from Job. His children, his wealth, and even his health. Job’s wife lost faith, and told him to curse God and die.
Secondly, trials come to test our character. Examine yourselves, whether you be in the faith; prove your own selves — 2 Corinthians 13:5. How is your walk in Christ? It’s easy to say God I live for you and God I die for you. But when the heat gets turned up in your life, that’s when you find out where you are in your walk with God.
